CALGARY – Police have charged a 37-year-old man with child luring after he allegedly started a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl he met online.
Satinderjit Mangat, who also uses the online alias Sam Pat, was arrested on Wednesday, January 14, 2014.
Investigators believe the two met via Facebook in August 2013 and developed a secretive sexual relationship.
In December, the victim’s parents contacted police after they allegedly discovered explicit chats between their daughter and Mangat.
Mangat is now facing a handful of charged, including:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual interference with a person under the age of 16
- Invitation to sexual touching
- Luring a child under the age of 16
- Luring a child under the age of 18
- Making child pornography
- Possession of child pornography
- Accessing child pornography
Police are concerned there may be other victims, and are asking anyone with information to contact Cst. Heather Bangle at 403-428-4908.
Mangat was released from custody on a number of conditions.
He is scheduled to appear in court on February 18, 2014.
