Northern B.C. aggressively recruiting more doctors

A new website has been launched by Northern Health in an effort to recruit more doctors to the more rural parts of British Columbia.

“We need to continually recruit and at least make people aware of the opportunities in the North,” says Ronald Chapman, Vice-President for Northern Health.

The website displays the opportunities available in many rural B.C. towns, and advertises the incentives offered to doctors willing to move to northern B.C.

Physicians receive $50,000 when they begin work, and receive another, conditional $50,000 once they have stayed a year – though it must be returned of they leave within three years.

The North Peace district released a tongue-in-cheek video two months ago highlighting the strengths of working in the north.
