Several arriving and departing flights at the Vancouver International Airport have been delayed or cancelled Sunday morning due to dense fog in the Lower Mainland.
“Fog at YVR is impacting some arriving and departing flights. If you are travelling on the morning of January 26, please check the status of your flight with your airline before coming to the airport. Thank you,” the airport said in a statement.
Many Harbour Air seaplane flights have also been cancelled due to the weather.
Global BC weather anchor Sonia Beeksma said the fog will lift a bit throughout the day in certain areas.
“We will see the fog dissipate a little bit, so it won’t be as dense by the afternoon but areas around the Strait of Georgia will be socked in. Having said that, it will redevelop quickly into late evening,” she said.
Thick fog is also predicted for Monday, but it should lift by the end of the day and will not return Tuesday.
