Wind chill warnings issued as Arctic cold returns to southern Ontario

TORONTO – The Arctic cold has returned.

Though southern Ontario enjoyed above-normal temperatures last week, the fun is over and winter is reminding us that there are still two months to go.

Environment Canada issued a wind chill warning for most of southern Ontario Monday. Only Windsor, Chatham and Elgin counties are not included in the warning.

On Monday, the high for Toronto is forecast to be -12 C, with a low of -21 C. From Tuesday to Thursday, the high is expected to be near -15 C with a low of near -23 C.

Strong northwesterly winds will produce wind chill values across southern Ontario of near -30 C to -35 C. Eastern Ontario may see wind chill values of -35 C or colder.

The good news is that it’s expected to warm up by Friday with a high of -10 C.

The normal high for this time of year is -2 C, with a low of -10 C.
