TSX closes over 14,000

TORONTO – The Standard-and-Poor’s/TSX composite finished the day at the 14,000 level for the first time since mid-2008.

It jumped 129.83 points to close at 14,059.18.

Volume at 4:15 p.m. ET was 457.54 million shares.

Twelve of the 13 subgroups closed higher, led by energy at 346.20 points.

That’s up 6.69 points or 1.97 per cent.

The lone decliner was consumer discretionary at 101.74, down 0.19 point or 0.19 per cent.

T-S-X 60 ended the day 9.38 points higher to 808.32.
