Having sat on the Board of Revision since 2003, I have seen first hand how property taxes affect the affordability of a home or the viability of a business, and find it absurd that the City’s budget has nearly tripled in the past decade. As the Ward 7 Alderman, I will make accounting for every expense my personal responsibility, and will work towards tying property tax increases to the inflation rate.
I also think that the City has devoted excessive resources to suburban development, and that we need to make inn-fill development — growth within existing neighborhoods — a priority. My website outlines several policies I think the City should adopt.
I think that mandatory curb-side recycling is affordable and a good idea, especially when we consider the lifespan it will add to the landfill, and the money we will save by delaying that expense.
