Man dies in collision north of Edmonton

Edmonton – One man died Friday morning after a two vehicle collision about 15 kilometers north of Edmonton.

Morinville RCMP say a man driving a truck east on Township Road 554 was unable to stop on the icy, gravel road, causing it to slide into the intersection at Highway 28. The truck was then hit by another truck headed south on the highway.

The driver of the truck that lost control was killed. The three people inside the second vehicle were not injured.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The RCMP say road conditions likely caused the crash, adding alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

A section of Highway 28 was closed for several hours before being reopened later in the morning.
