CALGARY – Two people are facing second-degree murder charges in a suspicious death in Red Deer, Alta.

RCMP headed to a home in the city’s Fairview area shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday after a 911 call was made about an altercation at the house.

When they arrived, 40-year-old William McDonald, who had recently come to Red Deer from Miramichi, N.B., was found dead.

Martin Munro, 36, from Miramichi, and Jolyn Ten Hove, 37, from Red Deer have each been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

The two people charged were found in the home at the time and knew the victim, said RCMP Const. Chris Kosack.

"The male accused is also originally from Miramichi. We know that the deceased, Mr. William McDonald came out from New Brunswick with Mr. Munro after Christmas," said Kosack.

The Mounties said they found no weapon at the crime scene, nor was there obvious indication that a weapon was used in the death, they said.

An autopsy was being performed in Calgary.

Munro and Ten Hove remain in police custody and will appear in Red Deer provincial court on Monday.

Red Deer is about 140 kilometres north of Calgary.
