WINNIPEG – The country’s labour ministers want to use social media to promote workplace safety.
Jennifer Howard, Manitoba’s labour minister, says they have agreed to consider using Facebook to get safety information out to workers.
Alberta’s Thomas Lukaszuk says new media is an important tool to reach out to young workers.
Ontario’s Ministry of Labour already has a Facebook page.
It allows workers to post questions and get government responses on everything from workplace safety to vacation pay.
Social media was discussed as the federal, provincial and territorial ministers held their annual meeting yesterday in Winnipeg.
