KELOWNA– Quick action by a neighbour and fire retardant siding may have saved a home from burning in Trader’s Cove late Tuesday afternoon.
The owner of the home on Traders Cove Road was trying to start a tractor when it backfired and burst into flames near the house.

The man and his neighbour, who’s a volunteer firefighter, used extinguishers to attack the flames.
When the West Kelowna Fire Department arrived on scene, firefighters cooled down the tractor and checked the roof of the home to see if the fire had spread.
Fortunately, it seems the only damage to the home is minor thanks to fire retardant material in the siding.
