A Surrey man is trying to land the trip of a lifetime to Mars.
Psychology major Alex Marion has been shortlisted along with about a thousand others from around the world from a pool of 200,000 applicants.
It’s all being organized by the non-profit group Mars One, which aims to start a small lunar colony by 2025.

It is also a one-way ticket.
Marion says he knows he would be leaving his life on Earth behind, but still wants to go.
“I think this mission is so very important. It is one of the greatest undertakings of mankind. For me to be a part of that is not even a question,” says Marion.
He says his family and girlfriend are supportive of his efforts.
