REGINA – A 30-year-old Regina man is facing several charges after an alleged assault on New Year’s Day.
At around 1:30 p.m. police were called to a house on the 400 block of Montreal Street where a 34-year-old male had been assaulted. When they arrived, a 47-year-old female in the house also said that she had been threatened with a firearm.

Police set up a perimeter around the home and safely negotiated eight people out of the house. A search warrant was obtained and a gun was found on the premises.
Ashley Murray Thompson has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number had been tampered with and two charges of possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order.
Thompson will make his first court appearance on Thursday afternoon.
