Ontario Provincial Police have said the causes of death and the identities of the deceased “cannot yet be confirmed,” but described all four deceased as “victims” and said that police believe “there is no imminent threat to public safety.”

Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy said the victims were a mother, father and their two children: a boy and a girl. Flags are being lowered to half-mast as the tight-knit community mourns and a vigil has been scheduled for Sunday evening at the Harrow Soccer Fields.

Bondy said free counselling services will be available to anyone in the community who needs it at the Harrow Health Centre next Monday through Wednesday.

Officers were called to a home on County Road 13 in Harrow at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, where the four bodies were found, police said. Police would not rule out the possibility of releasing more information on Friday but said an update is not anticipated.

Autopsies will be conducted in London and the Essex County OPP crime unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to police.
