British man running across Canada for charity robbed in Banff

A British man who is running unaided across Canada for charity was attacked and robbed last night in Banff.

27-year-old Jamie McDonald is running across the country, from coast to coast, dressed as comic superhero ‘The Flash’ to raise money for children’s hospitals. He started on the east coast and will end on the west coast.

His journey is the equivalent of about 200 marathons and he started back in March.

He took a break yesterday to ring in the New Year and says he was attacked by three men. He managed to get away, but they took his bag. That included his possessions, priceless hours of video footage of his journey and his wallet.

While he’s shaken up he luckily was able to get everything back.

“It is a blow,” says McDonald, “but it’s a big blip in the ocean. Canada is one of the best countries in the world.”
