WINNIPEG – A water main break has created a lake on Morello Bay in the Maples.

“It’s horrible, just horrible,” said Pardeep Singh, who woke up to find two feet of water around his car. “Bad start to the new year.”

The street of town homes was flooded Tuesday morning after a main broke near Jefferson Avenue and Adsum Drive.

Singh said he quickly moved his car and then his brother’s vehicle, but the ice formed so quickly in the cold, it broke the bumper off his brother’s car.

Jefferson Avenue was closed from Adsum Drive to Morello Bay. City crews were on the scene.

The water also affected Winnipeg Transit, with water entering a bus that tried to go through the area.
