CALGARY – A Calgary restaurant is coming to the aid of local families who might not be able to afford a Christmas turkey.
Tony Nicastro is the owner of Nicastro’s Public House on Centre Street, and says he and his staff have prepared 170 Christmas dinners for families in need.
All the families will need to do is pick up the food on Christmas Eve and pop the turkey in the oven.
“One morning I was talking to the wife and I said, ‘maybe we can give back to people that need our help,’” explains Nicastro. “The money that we would spend [on it] – two years from now we wouldn’t remember it – but something like this lasts in your heart for a long time.”
The dinner includes turkey, stuffing and sides – as well as a panitone for desert to give the meal a little family twist.
