Pileup involving 10 vehicles leads to traffic backups

CALGARY- A pileup involving nearly a dozen vehicles led to major traffic backups on Monday afternoon.

Just before 1:30 p.m., a collision occurred on southbound Deerfoot Trail south of 17 Ave. S.E. It involved 10 vehicles, including two semis and a cube van.

One person needed to be pulled from a vehicle by fire crews, and was taken to hospital.

As a result of the crash, only one southbound lane was left open, which led to delays for other drivers in the area.
