UPDATE: Search for missing British tourist wrapped up

Search crews were scouring the North Shore today looking for a missing British tourist, but there is still no sign of Thomas Billings.

Twenty-two-year-old Billings went missing on November 25 in Vancouver. He was supposed to go to the U.S. at the end of the month, and return to England on December 7.

Today, crews headed up in a helicopter to search the west side of Mount Seymour after photos taken of the area last week revealed something they say was worth checking. But after accessing drainage off west side of Mount Seymour, where an object of interest was spotted, search crews have ruled it out as a potential shelter.

Billings is an avid hiker. His family says he is very experienced and has hiked all over the world.

It’s believed he may have headed to an area near Grouse before his disappearance.

Tom’s father, Martin Billings, travelled to Vancouver earlier this month to make an emotional plea for information.

He also paid North Shore Rescue to do an aerial survey of the North Shore, but with no results.

Billings is described as white, 5’7” tall, 160 lbs., with blonde short hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and grey military style pants.
