MONTREAL – One of Canada’s biggest toy distributors has come to the rescue of the Montreal Children’s Hospital, ensuring that Santa will have a full sack when he makes his rounds at the facility on Dec. 25.
Hasbro Canada announced on Friday that it will donate $15,000 worth of toys and games to the facility to alleviate a shortfall in public donations this year.
The hospital issued a plea for donations earlier this week, saying their cupboard was nearly empty with just over a week left until Christmas.
"We are proud to support the Montreal Children’s Hospital’s need for toys," said Michael Hogg, President of Hasbro Canada. "We hope that our donation will not only help fill up the hospital’s storage room, but ultimately bring comfort and joy to the children in the hospital this Holiday Season."
The donations will be dropped off on Friday, the company said, which will allow enough time for hospital staff to sort and wrap the gifts in time for Christmas morning, when they will be distributed to children who can’t leave the building.
