SASKATOON – An early morning fire at The Lighthouse in downtown Saskatoon was extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system.
Fire crews were called to the building at 227 20th St. East just after 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke coming from room 201 on the second floor.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and water on the second floor which was traced to the closet.
The building was ventilated and some water damage was reported to the floor.
No injuries were reported and everyone was evacuated to another portion of the building.
Fire officials say the fire was intentionally set. Smoke and water damage is pegged at between 40 and 50 thousand dollars.
