Mediation fails to solve complaint involving seeing-eye dog

Mediation fails to solve human rights complaint involving Taxi company and visually impaired man in Saskatoon. File / Global News

SASKATOON – Mediation hasn’t solved anything between a Saskatoon cab company and a visually impaired man who filed a human rights complaint after being denied service.

The Human Rights Commission has appointed an investigator to look further into the matter.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The investigator will meet both sides separately in the New Year.

Mike Simmonds and his seeing-eye dog have been having trouble with Comfort Cabs.

On three different occasions he says taxi drivers wouldn’t allow him and his guide dog into the vehicle because of religious beliefs.
