EDMONTON – A lawyer with wide experience in medical issues has been named Alberta’s interim health advocate.
Mary Marshall is to assume her duties on Jan. 1 for a period of six months.
Her job will be to set up an office to help patients and their families navigate health care in the province.
Marshall is also intended to take complaints so they can be resolved.
The office is to be running by April.
Marshall, a graduate of Cambridge University, has been an adviser and author on numerous issues in her field, particularly on mental health and health privacy.
