Confusion for drivers in Delta after South Fraser Perimeter Road partially re-opens

Courtesy: South Fraser Perimeter Road Project

There might be some confusion for drivers in Delta this morning.

The South Fraser Perimeter Road has been partially because the old Highway 17 will be shut down for five days.

The highway will be undergoing road work and paving for ramp construction.

It will result in a temporary full closure of the highway between 34B Avenue and 28 Avenue between December 15 and December 19.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Deltaport Way remains open, although access between Deltaport Way and Highway 17 will be restricted to passenger vehicles and local truck deliveries only. Container trucks travelling to and from Deltaport will use the South Fraser Perimeter Road detour route.

The alternate routes around the closure area include:

–Traffic between Ladner/Tsawwassen will use Arthur Drive/56 Street or Deltaport Way

–Highway 99 traffic to Tsawwassen, Deltaport, and Ferries will use SFPR (Detour Route)

–Traffic from Tsawwassen, Deltaport, and Ferries to Highway 99 will use SFPR (Detour Route)

To add to the confusion, the old Highway 17 will now be called Highway 17A, and the South Fraser Perimeter Road will get the name of Highway 17.
