New school announced in Aspen Woods

CALGARY – The province has announced plans to build a brand new school in the city’s southwest.

The new facility will be a Kindergarten to Grade six in Aspen Woods, and will be part of the Roman Catholic Separate School District.

It will house about 750 students.

The school was one of six announced throughout Alberta on Monday, which will provide 4,200 new spaces for students across the province.

“These schools will serve as the hubs of their community for many years and provide students exceptional learning opportunities,” said Jeff Johnson, Minister of Education.

It is anticipated the school will be completed by 2017.
