Laval police spokesperson Stéphanie Beshara said officers were sent to the home to perform a wellness check after receiving a 911 call.

Beshara later specified that the request for a wellness check was made by Montreal police.

When officers arrived at the home, they discovered two people — a 43-year-old man and a 70-year-old man — who were unresponsive.

According to sources, the deaths are being looked at as a murder-suicide.
