CALGARY- He’s back!
Months after an emotional farewell, former Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla returned to the Saddledome, this time as a forward with the Boston Bruins.
Iggy was greeted by a swarm of media as he arrived for practice ahead of Tuesday night’s tilt between the Flames and Bruins.
“I think it’s pretty funny,” he said, of the fanfare greeting him. “I mean, yeah, I got a little ribbing from the guys.”

The former captain played his entire 16 year NHL career in Calgary, until being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 27. He said he hopes he doesn’t get booed when he steps onto the ice, and isn’t sure what his emotions will be when he’s greeted by fans.
“When I was younger I would say ‘not a chance’ I would be emotional, but as you get older, maybe it’s the kids, but you get more emotional,” Iginla said. “I guess don’t rule it out.”
Those attending Tuesday’s game are asked to show up early, as there will be a video tribute for Iginla before the game.
“When you get traded it’s pretty sudden, so I didn’t feel like I was missing that tribute game,” he said, of being sent away without fanfare. “It’s part of the business and I didn’t feel ripped off.”
Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
