Winnipeg police are still investigating after a man was fatally stabbed on Wednesday.
Police say they went to the area of Talbot Ave and Watt Street at 8 a.m. for reports of a stabbing.
Officers found an injured man who was then taken to hospital where he later died.
Police have identified him as 46-year-old Ivan Rubanik.
“This victim in this matter is a new or relatively new immigrant to Canada, specifically Winnipeg. My understanding is our victim was going about his business on his way to work when he was confronted,” said Const. Jason Michalyshen.
A 19-year-old has been arrested and remains in custody while facing charges. The accused can’t be named as the charges are still pending.
Police say the suspect is known to the police and the attack is believed to be random.
