Emergency crews are responding to the scene Thursday in Kuna, a town about 30 minutes from Boise.

Canyon County Sheriff spokeswoman Theresa Baker confirmed one child died and parents have been notified. Baker says as many as 10 children in the sixth grade or younger were on a bus destined for Crimson Point Elementary School.

Baker says the dump truck hit the back of the school bus at an intersection, but it’s not yet clear who was at fault.

St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center officials say the hospital has been told to expect four patients from the crash.
