TORONTO – Toronto Fire officials are investigating after a two-alarm fire gutted a St. Clair Avenue restaurant early Wednesday morning.
The blaze started around 12:15 a.m at 1239 St. Clair Avenue West and 68 fire fighters were called to the scene.

They arrived to find the restaurant engulfed in flames but it was contained inside the building and did not spread to adjacent structures.
The fire was extinguished at 12:39 a.m. and one fire fighter suffered a minor injury to his leg. He was transported to hospital but was later released.
Officials say the building was did not have a sprinkler system and initial findings suggest the fire may have originated from the mechanical room.
The damages are estimated to be around $300,000.
