CALGARY- Monday’s blizzard has led to nothing but chaos throughout Calgary and southern Alberta, but there is one group benefiting from all the snow: ski resort owners.

Lake Louise Ski Resort has a base of 118 cm, thanks to the snow falling over the past couple of days. While Sunshine Village only got eight centimeters, flurries have cleared and skiers and snowboarders are enjoying sunny skies along with the cold, crisp weather.

Hills in B.C. have also benefited from the storm, seeing a major dump over the past two days. Fernie Alpine Resort was padded with over 70 cm of new snow, while Kimberley has seen a staggering 100 cm.

“This is one of the biggest snowfalls people can remember in Kimberley,” said Ted Funston, area manager for Kimberley Alpine Resort. “Our year to date snowfalls total is now 207 cm, the largest we have had on record for this date in over 20 years.”
