TORONTO – Picket lines went up Wednesday morning at the Delta Chelsea hotel in Toronto, but hotel management says it’s business as usual.
The union representing the hotel workers says talks broke down over workloads, job security, wages and benefits.
Unite Here Local 75 says the walkout was the beginning of a two-week strike at the 1,500-room downtown hotel.
The hotel says the level of service to its guests has not been affected by the strike.
The workers reached a strike-lockout deadline last week, and has voted 95 per cent to authorize a strike earlier during the summer.
Delta operates the Delta Chelsea hotel, along with the Delta Toronto East and Delta Airport West, also currently in negotiations with Unite Here Local 75.
