Waterloo Regional Police say arrests were made after a gun incident near a Kitchener high school on Thursday afternoon.
Shortly after 1 p.m., police issued a tweet which warned the public that there was an increased police presence near Huron and Strasburg Roads.
A spokesperson for the Waterloo Region District School Board confirmed that the investigation was conducted in a parking lot near Huron Heights Secondary School.
The school placed itself under a hold and secure while the investigation was taking place, according to a police spokesperson.
About 15 minutes after the initial tweet, police issued a second tweet which noted that arrests has been made.
Police would later issue a release which said that they had received several calls at around 12:30 p.m. in which people reported seeing masked people in a car with a gun.
When officers reached the parking lot of Huron Heights Secondary School, they arrested five people in the suspect vehicle without incident.
They say the officers found two replica guns inside the vehicle.
Police say the teens, who are all Kitchener natives, are facing a charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
