A veteran member of the P.E.I. legislature says he has apologized after a female worker in his office complained of sexual harassment.
Jim Bagnall, who’s the Conservative member for Montague-Kilmuir, describes the comments as inappropriate.
He won’t go into details, other than to say his comments contained "innuendo."
Bagnall says he made the comments last spring, he apologized, and "things moved on."
Bagnall carried considerable clout in the Official Opposition Office when the comment was made.
He was Opposition house leader, which gave him direct authority over all the staff in his office.
Opposition Leader Olive Crane says she asked her chief of staff to investigate as soon as she was made aware of the complaint.
Crane says she used the civil service policy on sexual harassment to guide the investigation.
Meanwhile, Bagnall says the staff member was happy with the way everything was handled and they’ve had a great working relationship ever since.
