Fentanyl

A powerful tranquilizer used mostly by veterinarians to sedate animals is being added to street drugs like fentanyl. Public health experts warn the substance medetomidine is showing up in samples in Ontario and British Columbia. The sedative’s introduction into the illicit opioid supply is adding a new lawyer of volatility to Canada’s drug epidemic, and prompting warnings from doctors. Touria Izri reports.
