“Totally unacceptable”: Doug Ford grilled on MPPs’ spending, says he eats at McDonald’s
Description
Ontario Premier Doug Ford faced a number of questions on now former MPP Stan Cho’s spending of taxpayer dollars calling it “totally unacceptable,” and saying that Cho has paid back the money. Pressed further about Cho’s spending of Conservative Party donor money on his own lavish lifestyle, Ford said “everything was unacceptable if you don’t put it to the right place… He’s no longer a minister in our government.” Asked about spending by other members of his caucus — some who even spent more than Cho — Ford replied that “They’re all paying it back and it’s unacceptable. If you guys (the media) think I’m happy about this, you’re wrong.” Asked about the private jet Ford bought and then quickly sold, the premier was asked if he would pay back the money spent by taxpayers in that transaction. “When I travel… guess where I eat? I ate at McDonald's. I pay out of my own pocket. I’ve never, ever charged the taxpayers, I’m the only premier in the history of this province that has a zero expense account… I have zero time for anyone who doesn’t respect the taxpayers money.”
