Cheryl’s Run is now in it’s 7th year! We’ll be down in Laurier Park on Sat. Sept. 23rd with a 10k run, a 5k run/walk and a kids obstacle run. The event is in support of The Awasisak Indigenous Health program at the Stollery. We’ll have free massages by In Pursuit of Motion Physiotherapy, warm ups by Planet Fitness, free lunch by The Purple Perogy and Cookies by George at the finish line! The top fundraising prize is a trip for two to Yellowknife to hunt the northern lights courtesy of Canadian North Airlines, The Explorer Hotel, and North Star Adventures, an indigenous adventure company in Yellowknife. The second fundraising prize is an electric bike from Shoppers Drug Mart, and the third fundraising prize is a deluxe car detailing package from WEM Toyota. We also have lots of other prizes to give away to lucky participants and sponsors will be there handing out swag and joining in the fun. The kids run is special this year as it’s in memory of two very special children who were both Stollery kids and who we featured on our posters and social media over the years. Willie was from Fox Lake Alberta and was part of the Stollery Awasisak program. He sadly passed away last June but it didn’t stop his family from driving the 11 hours to Edmonton to be part of the event. His grandfather wore his signature hero cape and ran 10k. Emma was also one of our poster children and we sadly lost her just this past Spring. You could always find her leading the Stollery Bear Dr Patch Up around the park at our run.
