The worlds of art, music, entertainment and winter activity will unite under the lights on Stephen Avenue at GLOW, Calgary’s only winter festival, February 14-16, 2020. Created to celebrate and embrace the beauty of winter through live music, dancing, outdoor lounges, and stunning light show installations that will put a Glow on Calgary’s downtown core. Staged across four blocks of 8th Ave South (Stephen Avenue) – from the intersections of 8th Ave. SE and 1st St. SE to the intersection of 8th Ave. SW and 3rd St. SW, the FREE family-friendly event is sure to have something for the whole family to enjoy.
Highlights include the hand-crafted, illuminated ice slide; a live, international ice carving competition; a trackless 18-passenger train; and musical guests, including the world-renowned Earth Harp Tech Rider, will keep your toes warm while dancing in the streets. The festival grounds will be decorated with brilliant light installations plus ice carving contests and a Live Drawing Project will offer an interactive artistic opportunity for guest to project their drawing onto the historic buildings of Stephen Avenue.
The entire block between 3rd St. SW and 2nd St. SW will be licensed and feature an Ice Lounge serviced by select Stephen Avenue restaurants. Food and drink will be available for purchase in this area.
