Foraging has been a key part of our existence since the dawn of human kind. For multiple reasons, this has become a lost skill for many of us today. This two part workshop looks to rekindle our ability to forage and feed ourselves in a modern day setting. Sharing tools, tips and first hand knowledge, we will explore the ethics and practices of environmentally sustainable foraging in Quebec. We’ll then move onto the basics of plant identification and botany using everything nature provides us (from the buds to the bark) and all of our senses. We will finish the workshop by learning how to identify the more common poisonous plants of Quebec and their lookalikes. It’s with this knowledge that we are able to set out foraging with the confidence of not harming ourselves or others. This class is not necessary for those who took last year’s “Introduction to medicinal, edible and poisonous plants” workshop. Teas will be shared of own locally foraged herbs for those participating.
