12th Annual Victor Ghirra Toy Drive

For the past 11 years, the annual Victor Ghirra Toy Drive has helped put smiles to over 33,000 needy children. This is all inspired by the giving spirit of the late Victor Ghirra. Victor was involved in many charitable initiatives, but one charity he cared deeply about was BC Children’s Hospital. Victor donated thousands of toys anonymously to the hospital for over a dozen years. When the hospital staff asked, “Who are you and where are these toys from?” Victor would simply reply, “It doesn’t matter who I am or where I am from, these toys are for the kids and that’s all you need to know.” It was not until after Victor’s passing that his family and friends discovered this charitable secret. “When I heard this, it touched me, and I wanted to find a way to keep Victor’s legacy alive,” said Harvey Kooner. Victor donated thousands of toys anonymously to BC Children’s Hospital for over a dozen years. This annual toy drive will help over a dozen good causes this year. Some notable charities include Children’s Hospital, Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, Richmond Christmas Fund, Options BC, Canuck Place, and North Shore Family Services – Christmas Bureau.
