Calgary Cup Karate Championships

Hello, My name is Michelle Gillespie. My husband Brad Gillespie and I are the owners and operators of Calgary Kyokushin Karate here in Calgary. We operate at three locations in the city and serve around 300 karate students ranging in age from 5 to 65. On March 17 we will be hosting our premier event of the year: The Calgary Cup Karate Championships. The event, held in the main gym at SAIT, normally features over 200 competitors in an all-day, all-ages event. The morning event includes children’s divisions of kata and kumite (knockdown fighting) and preliminary rounds of the adult divisions. The afternoon is the main event with the adrenaline-filled finals for all divisions. Tickets are $15 for all-day admission. The audience will find something interesting for everyone, whether they are involved in the Martial Arts themselves, or are simply interesting in learning more about this traditional style of karate.
