Tracy is a young wife, excellent mother to her two children, a loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and a best friend to so many.
In May of 2015, after being told multiple times over the course of one year by multiple physicians that her stomach pains were not medically concerning, Tracy was diagnosed with Aggressive, Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. Tracy was 30 years old.
One month after her diagnosis, Tracy underwent a 9+ hour surgery which resulted in a full hysterectomy, removal of her large intestine and removal of a portion of her stomach. She was left with a permanent ileostomy. She had laser treatments on her bladder, pelvis and abdomen. Even with all of the efforts of her doctors and her strength of will to live, Tracy was still left with cancerous cells that were further treated with six rounds of chemotherapy, ending in December of 2015.
Most recently, Tracy has been given various medications to slow down further growth but these treatments have not been successful. Tracy is running out of options for medications. Her Oncologist wants to put her on a new medication that costs…wait for it…$6,000.00 per month and is not covered by our provincial health plan. Not only this, but she has to be able to pay for at least 6 months of treatment so that is a whopping $36,000 that is not covered. In order for her to continue living, she has to come up with this money and time is of the essence.
Tracy has applied for Compassionate Care funding but has been turned down due to lack of money available in the fund. She continues to work with her doctor and on her own to research other funding that may be available.
Tracy’s friends and family have gathered around her and are currently running or planning fundraisers which can be found as well as so much more information on a website specifically set up for her – http://letshelptracy.com/
A Go-Fund Me account has been set up (https://www.gofundme.com/6vmqj-tracys-fund) with a goal to raise $25,000. Please consider giving. Any amount will make a difference. This link is also available on the website mentioned above. If you would like to make cash or cheque donations, you can give them to Kelly Davison. Any cheques would be made out directly to Tracy Ferguson.
You can make a difference. Please don’t let history repeat itself and leave her two beautiful children to grow up without a mother.
