Canada Summer Games: Torch Relay

The Manitoba Hydro Torch Relay carries the excitement of the Games across Manitoba. On Wednesday, July 26, the torch will makes its way through central Winnipeg and end with a celebration at Manitoba Hydro Place. Sixty-seven torchbearers will take the Roly McLenahan torch on an 11-kilometre journey through the city’s various cultural spots. The relay starts at the Centennial Torch on Memorial Boulevard and will pass through landmarks like Broadway, the Forks, the Exchange District, the Legislative Building and St. Boniface will be highlighted before the relay ends on Edmonton St. for a free community BBQ at noon. The journey started with the official lighting ceremony in Ottawa on June 6, 2017. This year’s route started on June 23 in Steinbach and includes routes through Kenora, Morden, Gillam/Fox Lake Cree Nation, Thompson, The Pas/Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Dauphin, Sagkeeng/Great Falls, Gimli and Brandon.
