The Día de Muertos MTL Festival 2025, organized by PAAL Partageons le monde, celebrates its ninth edition from October 16 to November 5 across several Montréal neighborhoods. This year’s theme, “Corn and Chocolate: Encounters,” highlights two sacred Mesoamerican symbols — corn, representing life and nourishment, and chocolate, symbolizing pleasure and spiritual connection. Through exhibitions, performances, creative workshops, and community events, the festival invites Montrealers to explore the beauty, symbolism, and intercultural dialogue of Mexico’s Día de Muertos, a UNESCO-recognized tradition that honors memory, ancestry, and the cycle of life. All activities are free and open to the public, making the festival a vibrant and inclusive celebration for families and communities alike. From October 16th to November 5th.
