TORONTO – A proposed motion to refer Rob Ford to the city’s Integrity Commissioner fails to carry with a vote of 18 – 26.

The motion, proposed by Ward 14 Councillor Gord Perks, would have seen the Integrity Commissioner investigate Rob Ford’s violations of code of conduct, alleged racist and homophobic remarks made by Ford, as well as the Mayor’s behaviour in general.

The proposal had multiple supporters including Giorgio Mammoliti, Karen Stintz and Raymond Cho, but ultimately failed to pass after two votes.

Meanwhile, Mayor Rob Ford moved a motion to have all council members undergo drug and alcohol testing by December this year.
