West Shore RCMP are searching for the driver of a vehicle after two traffic flaggers were injured in a hit-and-run in Langford Monday.

Mounties said the two flaggers were hit at the intersection of Bear Mountain Parkway and Players Drive at around 6:30 p.m.

A dark grey or silver SUV was at the intersection attempting to turn left when one of the flaggers signaled for the vehicle to stop, according to Mounties.

The driver of the SUV ignored the signal and drove through the intersection, striking the flagger’s paddle and arm.

The vehicle then hit another flagger in the shoulder and knee, officers said.

The vehicle sped off up Bear Mountain Parkway on the wrong side of the road, drove over the centre median and proceeded up the road at a high rate of speed, Mounties allege.

The two flaggers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mounties are searching for a suspect and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Last month, a 29-year-old flagger and mother of three was killed while working on Vancouver Island.

Her death prompted other flaggers who have been injured on the job to demand safety changes.
