OKANAGAN — A recent forecast of a global wine shortage may be straining some exporters but at least one Okanagan winery is welcoming the news with open arms.
A U.S. report shows wine supply barely beat the demand last year and a shortage is on the way if we continue to sip at our current pace.
One big push for the increase in demand comes from growing exports to China.
While some European wineries are worried about the strain, Ex Nihilo Winery in Winfield is looking forward to the push.
The local winery has sold ice wine to Mainland China for the past several years and is optimistic about the possibility of selling more wine to the country with the spike in demand.
