SASKATOON – A carcass RCMP hoped would help solve some missing person cases has gone missing itself.

Mounties launched a 150 pound pig carcass into the North Saskatchewan River near North Battleford, Sask. in September.

Police were hoping a tracking device embedded in the pig would help determine where collection points are on the river.

They are now unable to find the carcass and say it’s possible the tracking device became buried under sediment or was taken away by an animal.

It was the first go at the project and officials say they may try it again.
