Chestermere’s mayor might have stayed the same, but there are a lot of new faces on council.
Six council seats were up for grabs, and Chestermere voters filled half of them with first-timers.
The new councillors are Patrick Watson, Gail Smith and Jennifer Massig.
They join several veteran councillors, including Heather Davies, who has sat on Chestermere’s council since 2001. She has served as Deputy Mayor on several occasions and received public recognition for her work on local wetlands.
Councillor Stu Hutchison was also re-elected. He has been a councillor for two decades, having first been elected in a by-election in 1993.
Christopher Steeves will be serving a third term in council. Last term, he served in the Calgary Regional Partnership, the Chestermere Planning Commission and other committees.
The new councillors join current Chestermere Mayor Patricia Matthews, who was unopposed this election.
