Video: Pedestrians cautioned after landslide creates new cliff face at UBC

Police are warning people to avoid Trail 5 at UBC after a landslide Sunday.

RCMP say a significant landslide around 2 p.m. Sunday has left Trail 5 unstable.

The landslide left a sheer cliff with a drop of 600 feet to the seashore.

RCMP say they don’t believe anyone was caught up in the slide after examining the site along with firefighters and GVRD staff.

The trail has been barricaded for now, and a permanent barricade will be put in place to keep pedestrians from the new cliff face.
