Toronto-shot series ‘Lucky 7’ cancelled after 2 episodes

TORONTO – Production in Toronto of the series Lucky 7 has shut down after its U.S. network pulled the plug after airing only two episodes.

Lucky 7, a remake of a British series, was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and starred Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Summer Bishil.

The drama followed a group of seven gas station workers in Queens, New York who won a lottery.

Cameras were scheduled to roll in Toronto until early December.

According to ABC, the premiere attracted a disappointing 4.4 million viewers. The show was cancelled when the second episode drew only 2.6 million viewers – a drop of 41 per cent.

Lucky 7 is the first network series of the new TV season to be axed.

Fox has already renewed Sleepy Hollow and The Simpsons and NBC has ordered full seasons of The Blacklist and The Michael J. Fox Show. All four shows air in Canada on Global.
